The CATHEDRAL CHOIR provides musical leadership primarily forthe 10:00 am Sunday Mass as well as various parish and Archdiocesan Celebrations. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm in the St.Cecilia chapel. Membership is open to all by audition. The CATHEDRALSCHOLA is made up of select musicians and membership is by audition only. The schola performs special music for various occasions. Membersare from the Cathedral Choir.

The Choir combined with the Archdiocesan Choir performed in Christmas at the Cathedral (pictures) as part of the Cathedral Concert Series in December of 2007, The choirs recently performed the Haydn "Mass in Time of War" in June, 2007 at the Cathedral and as part of the National NPM Convention in Indianapolis.

In the coming year they will participate in the installation of our new Archbishop and Christmas at the Cathedral. A trip to Rome and Assisi is planned for June, 2009.

Archdiocesan Children's Choir
The ARCHDIOCESAN CHILDREN'S CHOIR, under the direction of Dr. John A.Romeri, was established in August of 1998 to give the children of the Archdiocese an opportunity to sing sacred music of the great composers in a liturgical setting. In its inaugural year, along with their regular schedule, the choir sang for the Papal Mass in the TWA Dome. In addition, the Children's Choir appeared on Good Morning America and sang on two recordings. More recently, the choir sang for the Archdiocesan Musicians' Convocation, with the Bach Society of St. Louisat Powell Hall and at the Eucharistic Congress in the TWA Dome. During their annual singing tours, they have performed in Cathedrals in Los Angeles, Chicago, Newark, Washington DC, New York, Orlando and Rockville Centre, Long Island. In January of 2006 the Children's Choir performed in Rome, Italy as part of the International Congress of Children's Choirs. They performed for The Holy Father on several occasions as well as a Mass in Assisi and the Vatican.
In December of 2007, the choir participated in Christmas at the Cathedral (pictures) as part of the Cathedral Concert Series and again at Powell Symphony Hall with the Bach Society of St. Louis. The Choir brings together 85 children, ages 9-14, from more than 60 parishes in the Archdiocese. Their summer trip for 2008 was to Washngton, DC where they sang with 600 young singers from around the country at the Pueri Canotres National Festival at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

In the coming season, they will participate in the Installation of the new Archbishop, Christmas at the Cathedral, The Bach Society Christmas Concert at Powell Hall, The Regional Festival of Pueri Cantores on March 19, 2009, and the Pueri Cantores Festival Evensong at the NPM National Convention in Chicago, July, 2009.

The ARCHDIOCESAN CHOIR meets twice a month on Tuesday evenings at 7:30pm. Membership is by audition. The choir includes singers from parishes throughout the archdiocese and sings for all of the major services ofthe Archdiocese including the installation of the present Archbishop,Most Rev. Raymond Burke.

In January 1999, they were the principal choir for the Papal Visit to St. Louis by John Paul II. With a 65-piece orchestra they performed for the Papal Mass at the Trans World Dome and the Evening Prayer Service at the Cathedral Basilica. They also sang on the television program “Good Morning, America” in preparation for the Papal Visit.

They have traveled to Italy, England and Austria in three European concert trips, performing the Verdi Requiem in Rome and a Mozart Mass in Salzburg on their most recent trip in 2003. This past season in additionto their liturgical duties at the Cathedral, they presented Christmas at the Cathedral (pictures) and in the spring of 2006, Te Deum by Hector Berlioz (pictures) . The Choir was part of Christmas at the Cathedral in December of 2007, and performed the Haydn "Mass in Time of War" in June 2007 at the Cathedral and at the NPM National Convention inIndianapolis.

Archdiocesan Handbell Choir
handbell_choir_christmas_06The ARCHDIOCESAN HANDBELL CHOIR meets every other Tuesday at 7:00 pm and performs one Sunday per month at the Cathedral for the 5:00 pm Sunday Mass. Members must be able to read music and previous handbell experience is recommended.

Each December, the handbell choir participated in Christmas at the Cathedral (pictures) as part of the Cathedral Concert Series.
